Two Green Products to see more of in 2009

Now that the world is well on its way towards a period of intensive, eco-efficient design, here are two great products introduced this past year that we hope to see more of in over the next 365 days.

1.  Potenco PCG1 Power Generator

This electronics battery recharger utilizes a string-pulled mechanism, similar to those that start a gas-powered lawn mower  .Compared to more traditional hand-powered electronics rechargers, This greatly reduces the amount of human energy required.  A mere two minutes of work on this little device will fully recharge an iPod.

2.  Caroma Profile Smart Dual Flush Toilet

Though I’m not so convinced about bending over the toilet seat every time I need to wash my hands, the principle to this grey-water recycling solution is so simple, it deserves an award.  By draining dirty sink water directly into the toilet tank, the system eliminates the ridiculous convention of flushing a toilet with drinking-grade water.

Here’s to more environmentally-minded innovation in 2009!!

If you don’t like the idea of having a sink above the toilet, you can also opt for a “regular” Caroma Dual Flush toilet. Caromas toilets look sleek, really work and are affordable. They offer a patented dual flush technology consisting of a 0.8 Gal flush for liquid waste and a 1.6 Gal flush for solids. Caroma, an Australian company set the standard by giving the world its first successful two button dual flush system in the nineteen eighties and has since perfected the technology. Also, with a full 3.5" trapway, these toilets virtually never clog. All of Caroma’s toilets are on the list of WaterSense labeled HET’s http://www.epa.gov/watersense/pp/find_het.htm and qualify for several toilet rebate programs currently available in the US as well as LEED points. Please go to http://www.caromausa.com for more detailed information or visit http://www.ecotransitions.com/howto.asp to see why they actually work better than any other US toilet. Best regards, Andrea Paulinelli, owner ecoTransitions Inc.
